Smarter than the average college student

One thing I forgot to mention about chemistry class: Dr. F told us to look at the page about units of measurement, and told us that that is the first hurdle most college students have trouble with. How hard can it be to convert 1600 meters to miles?

I find that the biggest difficulty is that such tables are too rare and it's ridiculously hard to memorize the weird ratios...

Even if you know a few ratios, you can get pretty far. Now, if you're dealing with significant figures, in which case you need to find ratios with at least the number of sig figs that you begin with, things can get tricky without a table to reference. But even so, this is a highschool class using a college level text, so, come on!
